1.1 1.1 Overview of the (LL.B 5years) Programme

This programme is designed for students, who intend to pursue a career in very extensive field of Law; the full time five years LL.B could prove ideal. This programme offers great diversity and wide range of career possibilities. This program gives a formidable range of skills which can transfer to many other sectors from multinational organizations to banking and finance, to technology, media and charities. This wide range law qualification is job oriented and highly valued by employers everywhere, so students should ensure that they have the commitment and the staying power to commit them fully for this period of time to ensure that they can take in the knowledge and learn the skills in which they will be instructed.

 

This course is a pathway to LL.B degree and the duration is for the period of 5 years and it has 10 semesters.

1.2 Rationale for the LL.B Programme

There is an increasing demand from employers for graduates, who has an essential skills of being adaptable, creative, working as a team and problem-solving skills and ready for challenging modern work-force with respect to law.

 

Therefore our course is aiming to create future leaders, who are innovative, adaptable, and ready for the diverse global challenges. Our graduates will be able to:

? Display a sound understanding of constitution and appraise law related issues and evidence critically.
? demonstrate an awareness of legal system of Pakistan, constitution of UK and USA at international levels, and understand the role of constitutional development at national and international levels in setting the context for good law practice.
? Evaluate and interpret the legal system of Pakistan with others, and engage in problem solving, thereby demonstrating a capacity to think clearly and logically about a range of contemporary legal issues;
? Reveal consistent and effective negotiation and persuasion skills that will useful in their careers.
? Understand the legal drafting and legal structure of corporate sectors and be capable of investigating and assessing career options prior to be law graduate.

1.3 Aims of the LL.B Programme

The programme design is based on the delivery of diagnostic, formative, evaluative, and investigative learning opportunities which are delivered within a curriculum framework which ensures that all the required areas of discipline subject matter are effectively covered within the teaching provision and the learning strategy.

1.The programme is designed to provide students with the opportunity to engage in a coherent learning experience aimed at providing;-

? A learning experience in which the discipline and subject knowledge, and understanding and individual capability of each student is fostered with a view to establishing their professional law abilities and application skills and enhancing their career development opportunities
? Inculcate in students a broad understanding of the social, political and economic contexts within which the Pakistani and global legal system operates;
? Equip students with knowledge and understanding of the fundamental doctrines and principles of Law.
? Develop the intellectual and practical skills necessary for employment in the legal profession and other careers.
? The core learning experience and coverage of discipline and subject material required for the law studies student at undergraduate level
? A curriculum which fosters the development of key law transferable and application skills within the learning experience provided by the programme
? A learning experience which is designed to engage students in the requirements of establishing firm academic understanding of the law studies discipline while evaluating their future professional and career direction
? An appropriate learning experience which provides a foundation for access to further study or professional qualifications through the encouragement and development of the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed by the student in order to become life-long learners who recognize the need to engage in Continuous Personal and Professional Development.
? The programme is also aimed at providing national / international students with the necessary transferable skills, and discipline and subject knowledge upon which they may establish their own law firm and management acumen and which will provide them with the required capability to enter their chosen law and/or management profession.
? The LL.B programme is aimed at developing and consolidating key subject area knowledge and employability and applications skills at an undergraduate level including, for example, the advocating, analytical and decision-making skills which are required in order to develop a successful career in a variety of law fields.

1.4 Objectives of the LL.B Programme

? To be in line with Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, Pakistan Bar Council and Sindh Bar Council and Sindh Higher Education Commission.
? To promote an understanding of understanding of the body of knowledge in the functional areas of Law.
? To provide students with a programme offering a balance of theory, case laws, reported judgements and practical skills that will facilitate students intellectual and professional development with respect to law.
? To equip students with the necessary knowledge of civil, criminal and corporate laws skills for the effective implementation of law in the context of the business , government and non government organisation and individually.
? To develop skills of leadership, teamwork and supervision; and skills of effective oral and written communication, presentation, and critical thinking.
? To furnish students with an understanding of the ability to use technology as a tool of effective management.
? To equip students’ abilities for ethical decision-making.
? To prepare students’ ability to function effectively in this wide range of diversed profession globally.

The programme is designed to provide opportunities for students to demonstrate the following learning outcomes:

a) Knowledge and Understanding Skills

? To demonstrate a critical comprehension and evaluative understanding of the main issues, theories and methodologies that are central to constitutional laws at national and international levels.
? To demonstrate a comprehension and analytic understanding of the main functional areas of
Jurisprudence, Civil and Criminal laws, Property Laws etc.
? To evaluate the role of the professional lawyers and the professional and ethical considerations associated with this role and its contexts.
? To critically analyse and evaluate lawful strategic processes within the context of the prevailing laws for all legal aspects of life.
? To demonstrate a critical, analytic and evaluative application of laws and its practices within the context of professional law practices.
? To demonstrate a critical awareness and utilisation of research and applied research in the evolution of law studies

b) Cognitive Skills

? To critically reason, synthesise judgments, and analyse complex legal issues both Systematically and innovatively.
? To reflect creatively and critically on their learning experience and make informed Judgments on this experience. To analyse and critically evaluate primary and secondary information collected from Research.
? To critically utilise, analyse and synthesise problem identification, problem solving and decision making skills, procedures and processes in resolving complex legal issues.

? To demonstrate critical skills of numeracy, literacy, and qualitative and quantitative abilities in researching, collation, analysis, synthesis and evaluation of evidence.

1.6 Programme Entry Requirement

To be admitted to the Bachelor of Laws degree programme students normally will satisfy following requirements:

? On entry a student must have completed a minimum Minimum 12 years of studies (HSC, FA/FSc or its equivalent qualification) with at least second Division in the relevant degree, OR any equivalent qualifications like A-level passed
? On entry a student must have completed Law Admission Test (LAT) being conducted by Higher Education Commission

English Language Requirement

? Candidate must be well -versed in Written and Spoken English.

Admission Procedure for LLB Programme

1. The candidate is required to appear in the Law Admission Test conducted by the HEC, Pakistan. 2. The candidate shall submit the following documents along with the LAT Certificate award by HEC AND Application Form: i. Photocopy of the last transcript / marks statement. ii. Photocopy of Computerized National Identity Card. iii. Six Passport Size Photographs. iv. Copy of Valid LAT/ SZABUL Entrance Test if available. There will be 70 percent weightage for LAT score,20 % Intermediate and 10% Matric.
